There is nothing…and I mean NOTHING… I love more than a good blogging/social media challenge.
I’ve done one with the release of several of my books, and they are always a big hit. There’s just something about taking time out every day to pause and reflect on your life that is so powerful. So I knew I definitely wanted to do one to correspond with the release of my new book, Turn Toward the Sun, as it is arguably the most personal and vulnerable book I’ve ever written. This particular challenge is designed to help you step out of the shadows of your past and into the big, beautiful sunshine of your present. We’ve all spent the past two years existing in the WHAT IFS…I think it’s time to turn toward the sun and live fully in the WHAT IS…yes?
Do you need to have a blog to participate in the challenge? Absolutely not. You can definitely utilize your blog if you have one, but you can also use any social media platform to complete each day’s reflection, or you can simply use your journal at home. Every daily challenge corresponds with a chapter of Turn Toward the Sun, so you’ll definitely want to make sure you preorder the book if you haven’t already.
If you do share your answers on social media, please tag me whenever possible and use the hashtag #TurnTowardTheSun and/or #TurnTowardTheSunChallenge so we can all follow along with the conversation!
So without further adieu…drumroll please….here is Week One! :)
WEEK ONE
Day One: Reflect on who you were before the pandemic vs. who you are today. What is something encouraging about yourself today that you would tell the 2019 version of you?
Day Two: What big scary life-altering thing can you admit you have no control over today? And how might your life be different if you admit you have no control over it and just…surrender?
Day Three: What is an example of a “God wink” that has happened in your life, or a serendipitous moment where someone crossed your path to share an important message with you or help you see things in a new light, and then left? Reflect on how that moment helped you turn toward the sun and live your life a little more bravely.
Day Four: Reflect on a time when a lost love helped you find YOURSELF.
Day Five: Turn Toward the Sun-Day! Today I want you to plant your own garden and decorate your own soul. Do something in nature today to help you feel more present and fully alive. Take a walk. Sit in the sunshine. Chase a waterfall. Pick a flower. Plant a flower. Snap a picture of your activity and hashtag it #TurnTowardTheSunDay.
Day Six: Share about a time that you fell for a “Relationship Mirage” – someone that looked and seemed very different on paper than they turned out to be in life. What did the experience teach you about trusting your gut and seeing people for who they are instead of who you want them to be?
Day Seven: What is one thing you can do today to let go of a lost love that you’re still clinging to? Clear out their text streams on your phone? Unfriend them on Facebook? Box up their leftover belongings and either ship them back or store them away somewhere? Take down their photos in your house? Do it. And afterward, reflect on how it made you feel to stop camping out in all the WHAT IF’s of lost love and step fully into the WHAT IS.
I can’t WAIT to read your responses! :) I’ll be releasing Week Two one week from today so stay tuned!
Also: If you haven’t yet reserved your FREE spot at my Virtual Book Launch Party on June 17th, please make sure you do so! It’s going to be a great big Girls Night In that you can attend from your couch in your PJ’s…and aren’t those the very best kind? :) I’ll be talking about the book, answering all your questions, chatting with some of my real-life readers about real-life issues…PLUS I’m giving away all sorts of fun stuff like a Grow-Your-Own-Sunflower Kit, sunflower tote bags, books, and more! All you have to do to register is click the image below.
Here’s to challenging ourselves, living in the moment, and turning toward the sun,
Mandy
